Internships

Acquire practical and scientific experience as a member of the IIR team

The interns of the Institute of International Relations (IIR) have a great opportunity to gain experience and new knowledge in the field of international relations in an independent research institution, one of the leading of its kind in the Czech Republic.

The Institute allows the Intern to conduct an internship in one of the two following programmes:

a. Independent researcher
As an Independent researcher, the Intern works on his/her own project based on an internship plan, which has to be submitted by the Intern and agreed upon between him/her and the Institute prior to the start of the internship (i.e. before signing the Internship Agreement).

b. Research assistant
As a Research assistant, the Intern participates in an existing project of the Institute or helps conference service of IIR. In this case the internship plan is not required.

If you are interested in an internship at the IIR, continue with the following steps:

1. Read the Internship Agreement (PDF, 3 pages, ENG) in order to learn about your duties and entitlements as an intern.

2. Decide for one of the above internship programmes, state your prefered term of internship and we will let you know if this term is available in case you are accepted.

3. If you decide to work as an Independent researcher, send us your internship plan which must contain the following information:

formal internship proposal which should include the project title, objectives, theoretical and methodological background, literature, structure and length of the resulting report/article,
proposed time frame (duration) of the internship,
your curriculum vitae
motivation letter (cca A4)

4. If you decide to become a Research assistant, simply send us your
curriculum vitae and the proposed time frame (duration) of your internship
motivation letter (cca A4)

5. Deadlines for applications:
Generally, the sooner you apply, the better. We accept the applications all year long.

6. The required information has to be sent either via e-mail or by fax to Mr. Daniel Bagge (PR and Conference Service, e-mail: conference@iir.cz, fax: +420 251 108 222).

7. After receiving all necessary information, we will decide on your application and let you know about the result as soon as possible.

8. If your application is accepted, you will be asked to sign the Internship Agreement and on an agreed date your internship can begin.
