Job Vacancy

Researcher/Senior Researcher at The Centre for Gender and Global Justice

with a focus on gender and equal opportunities in the EU and international organizations

The Institute of International Relations Prague (IIR) has been the leading Czech academic institution in the field of international studies since 1957. As an active member of several international research networks, it conducts excellent academic research in international relations, European studies, security studies, area studies, international law, global issues, foreign policy and diplomacy. As an independent public institution founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the IIR also carries out applied research and offers policy advising. It serves as a hub for academics, policy makers and citizens, and stimulates the expert, intellectual and public debates on international politics and Czech foreign policy. The IIR organizes dozens of events, publishes books and journals in its own publishing house, and educates new talents in a joint PhD programme with Metropolitan University Prague. The IIR’s administrative, research and project support, its conference and PR service and the services of its specialized library as well as its offices in the historical centre of Prague provide an exceptionally stimulating environment for personal development.

Within the scope of the three-year ESF-funded project Gender Equality in the Czech Foreign Policy and Development Cooperation, the IIR is offering a full-time position for a researcher with a focus on gender and equal opportunities in the EU and international organizations in its newly established Centre for Gender and Global Justice. The principal duty of the researcher will be to produce two expert studies containing recommendations on gender and equal opportunities in the EU and international institutions and the possibility of better and higher involvement of Czech representatives in these institutions. The prerequisites for the position are an ability to carry out applied research and a willingness to offer one’s expertise to policy makers in the form of analyses, recommendations and consultations. A supplementary part of the researcher’s workload will consist of carrying out theoretically and methodologically founded research and publishing its results in academic journals and publishing houses. We also expect that the researcher will appear in the media and engage in expert and public debates.
