Mark Galeotti heading the Centre for European Security

Mark Galeotti became the head of the Centre for European Security of the Institute of International Relations Prague.

Dr. Mark Galeotti succeeded Benjamin Tallisin the post of the head of the Centre for European Security. We wish him a lot of success in that position.

The Centre for European Security of the Institute of International Relations explores new outlines of the emerging global security (dis)order from a European and particularly a Central European perspective. Amongst a lot of other centers for security studies in Central Europe the CES exceeds them in interconnecting professionals from both security and European studies. The CES doesn´t focus only on security or European integration. Instead, the CES provides a comprehensive insight into security in Europe, the security of Europe and the roles of the EU and its member states as security actors.

Dr. Mark Galeotti is a researcher in the Institute of International Relations and an internationally recognized expert on Russia. Besides his considerable academic career, which included lecturing at several eminent universities of the world, he was an adviser of the British Foreign Ministry, and he is the author of a number of specialized publications. The main topics of his interest are Russian domestic and foreign politics, Russian and Soviet history, international and organized crime, intelligence operations and both military and non-military security questions.
