Vacancy Notification: Space Policy, Cyber Security Research Fellow

The Institute of International Relations Prague (IIR), the leading Czech academic institution in the field of international studies, is seeking to recruit a research fellows for project TAČR Éta and project Horizon 2020.

As an active member of international research networks, the IIR engages in state-of-the-art academic research in the fields of International Relations, European Studies, Security Studies, International Political Sociology, International Political Economy, and International Law. The Institute is an independent public research institution founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, that produces policy research both for the Ministry and other national and international governmental bodies. It also serves as an agora for scholars, policy makers and citizens interested in international politics, and it stimulates and broadens the horizons of the public debate.

TAČR ÉTA Research Fellow – Space Policy

Project Title: A multidisciplinary analysis of planetary defence from asteroids as the key national policy ensuring further flourishing and prosperity of humankind both on Earth and in Space.

Main responisbilities:

► Our new colleague will help us to write a narrative of a national foreign policy in the space domain;

► the policy will reflect cosmopolitan and humanist ideas while focusing on Large Technical Systems as enablers of inclusive global policy in space;

► the above sketched objectives require overall knowledge of current national space policy positions in COPUOS (will be studied), current national scientific and technological capacities and definition of requirements what capacities need to be developed by scientific authorities;

► focus will be put on current laser capabilities in various applications;

► the idea is that our whole efforts will also help to sketch future EU space policy of the EU Agency of Space Program which will have headquarters in Prague.

Horizon 2020, Research Fellow – Cyber Security

Project title: Secure Intelligent Methods for Advanced RecoGnition of malware and stegomalware

Main responisbilities:

► activities of new actors in cyberspace through (delivered) technical analysis of their activities;

► discourse interpreting what is happening in cyberspace;

► strategies reflecting political entities’ reaction to the new realm of cyber threats.
