Open Call for IIR Visiting Scholar
The Institute of International Relations Prague (IIR) is currently offering the position of a visiting scholar. It is an open call for all non-Czech senior or mid-career scholars or researchers regardless of their institutional or national affiliation.

We especially encourage applicants with an interest in:
- European Integration
- International Security (particularly within the Centre for European Security)
- Foreign Policy
- Global Issues (including international law, global governance, human rights, global development, international political economy, etc.)
- Territorial Studies
- Theories of international relations
The IIR offers visiting scholars full access to all services available to the IIR researchers, including the following:
- The provision of a vibrant international research milieu
- The provision of a fully equipped working place including internal e-mail, a phone and coverage of printing costs
- Preferential access to the IIR library, including interlibrary loans and access to major academic and media databases
- Feedback on the working versions of the visiting scholar's texts by the IIR’s researchers and associates
- The possibility of the visiting scholar's participation on the IIR’s internal seminars on IR theory
- Research assistance provided by interns and professional proofreading
- Publication of the visiting scholar's research in the IIR Policy Paper and Discussion Paper series
- The services of the conference service, which organizes public presentations and/or expert seminars
- Communication of the visiting scholar’s expertise to the Czech media
Qualifications
- The applicant has to have a completed Ph.D. (or an equivalent)
Duration
- The position is open all year round, but only one researcher can fill it at a time.
- The visiting scholar may spend from 6 weeks to 6 months in the position.

The application should consist of:
- A short cover letter (including the preferred time and duration of the scholar's stay)
- A curriculum vitae
- A list of publications by the scholar
- A research plan
Strong preference will be given to candidates with a clear research objective and with the intention to produce an academic article or a book within the framework of the stay.
Applications will be reviewed on a continuous basis, and the applicant will be informed about our decision within three weeks after we receive the application.
Please note that the IIR cannot offer or guarantee funding for the fellowship; however, the IIR will assist the researcher in seeking funding based on their individual application; and also the IIR can offer special agreements (for details on these please inquire individually).
