We are looking for a new colleague

for the position: Senior research fellow in European Studies.

The Institute of International Relations, Prague (IIR) has been the leading academic institution for the study of international relations in the Czech Republic since 1957. As an active member of international research networks, it conducts excellent academic research in the larger field of international relations, which includes European studies, security studies, area studies and other related disciplines. In its IR research, it sets national benchmarks for the quality of scientific research in International Relations. As an independent institution originally founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the IIR also provides policy analysis and recommendations. It serves as a hub for academics, policy makers and the general public, and it stimulates the expert, intellectual and public debates on the Czech foreign policy, European affairs and global issues. The IIR also publishes a number of academic journals and books, and it offers a joint PhD programme in International Relations and European Studies. As it is located in the historical centre of Prague, its venue and library provide a stimulating environment for scholars and students of international relations.

The IIR currently has a job vacancy for a full-time senior research fellow to join its team of colleagues who are working on European issues. Her/his primary objective will be to conduct theoretically and methodologically informed academic research and publish its results in international journals and publishing houses. In addition to that, s/he should be able to carry out policy analysis and provide policy makers with her/his expertise in the form of policy papers, ad hoc studies and consultations. S/he will also be supported and encouraged to appear in the media and engage in the public debate on the European integration. With the support of the IIR’s project manager, s/he is expected to apply for additional research funding and become a leader or co-leader of research projects that will include other IIR research fellows, associate researchers and PhD students. The research fellowship can be combined with lecturing at a partner university in Prague. Women are encouraged to apply.
