Barbara Gruber Postdoctoral Researcher
Barbara is a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of International Relations (IIR) in Prague. Barbara joined IIR as part of the project “Foreign Interference in the Context of Geopolitical and Technological Change” (INTERFER). Her work focuses on resilience, critical terrorism studies, and the intersections of security and societal issues, with particular emphasis on prevention and its impact on broader society. She has conducted research on radicalization prevention, psychological resilience, and intelligence, and currently investigates how foreign interference shapes intelligence practices.
Previously, she served as head of the MA program “Counter-Terrorism, Prevention of Violent Extremism & Intelligence” at the University for Continuing Education Krems. She has also held academic positions at the University of Tübingen and the Institute for International Relations Austria.
She earned her PhD in International Relations and Security Studies from the University of Groningen, where her dissertation (2023) examined resilience in radicalization prevention.
