The political crisis in Venezuela is reaching the headlines of the media all around the world. The presidential election winner Nicolas Maduro's is not being recognized not only domestically but also internationally. The election itself was broadly boycotted and the opposition leader of the legislature Juan Guaido declared himself interim president. Highly supported by the US and EU, Guaido is now pushing for a new election and convincing the army and police to stand for the opposition.

What is behind the crisis in Venezuela? Is it possible to resolve the two presidents problem in the near future? And how is the problem seen from the perspective of international law?
