Mapping and Explaining the Politicisation and Framing of European Integration in the Political Discourse of Central and Eastern European Countries

The project analyses the politicisation and framing of European integration issues in the political debates in the selected Central and Eastern European countries. In particular, it look at whether, to what extent and how European integration issues were politicised and framed during the plenary debates in four Central and Eastern European countries between 2004 and 2019. After investigating the descriptive accounts of politicisation and framing, the project turns to explain the identified trends and patterns of politicisation and framing. In doing so, it primarily tests various determinants of politicisation and framing identified in previous literature on the politicisation and framing of European integration in Western European member states. At the same time, the project will strive to come up with its own theoretically-informed explanations of politicisation and framing of European integration issues.
