Asia

Asia is considered by many to be the continent of the 21st century. Today, the rich Japan, the rapidly developing China and India, and the “Asian tigersˮ (the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) form an economic counterweight to Europe and the USA, and their global political influence is growing. On the other hand, we find the economically weak Asian countries (Bangladesh, Cambodia, Nepal, the Philippines, Myanmar etc.), which are a target of foreign development aid. In Asia we also find many of the most militarily and politically problematic areas of the world (the Near and Middle East, Afghanistan, Kashmir, North Korea). Therefore, the IIR researchers have long been implementing projects focused on analysing the economy, politics and security of selected countries and regions of Asia, as well as on analysing their relations with the Czech Republic.
