Discourse and Affect in Foreign Policy
A prestigious British publishing house Routledge has published a new book by our researcher Jakub Eberle.
The publication "Discourse and Affect in Foreign Policy: Germany and the Iraq War" offers an original outlook on the politics of the Federal Republic of Germany during the Iraq Crisis between the years 2002 and 2003. It contributes to wider theoretical debates on the role of emotions in international relations. Based on more than a thousand texts, images and interviews, Eberle documents the contradictions in German politics and explains them through emotional ties to conflicting norms, rules and identities. The work is based on a thesis defended at the University of Warwick that has received an award from the British Studies Association in 2017. The book is also available in our library.
