What Future for the Norms-Based International Order?
Jakub Eberle will take part in a discussion on What Future for the Norms-Based International Order? Czech and German perspectives.
Jakub Eberle, the Head of the Centre for European Integration, will take part in a public debate on the topic "What Future for the Norms-Based International Order? Czech and German perspectives". The discussion will revolve around the current norm-based international order and the challenges posed to it by the ongoing globalization as well as competing great powers: the United States, China and Russia. What is at stake for the existing multilateral institutions and their member states, the EU and Germany especially? And what can be done in face of this new situation?
The debate is organized jointly by the Representation of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in the Czech Republic and the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSV UK) of Charles University. Other panelists include Dr. Gernot Erler, the former Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, and Prof. Hanns Maull, a Senior Distinguished Fellow at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP) in Berlin. Dr. Dagmar Rychnovská, a Marie Sklodowska-Curie fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), will moderate the discussion.
The event will take place on May 13, 2019, from 5 till 7 PM in the small auditorium of the Karolinum of Charles University (Ovocný trh 5/560, 116 36 Prague 1). Registrations are open until May 9. The debate will be held in English, German interpretation will also be provided.
