Czech Pre-Presidency Conference
The Pre-Presidency Conference is a prestigious high-level meeting supported by the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA), the oldest trans-European research network which spans across 37 European countries. The conference is organized twice a year in the capital of the country of the upcoming Presidency of the Council of the EU.

The conference will bring together academics, policy-makers, media and civil society in order to discuss the agenda and challenges of the upcoming Presidency. More specifically, the conference will assess the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the future of European security, but it will also explore a number of other key issues, such as the significance of the recent political reshuffle in Central Europe, the recommendations of the Conference on the Future of Europe as well as the new challenges to the Green Deal initiative.
The Czech Pre-Presidency Conference will be organised by the Institute of International Relations, the only Czech TEPSA member institute, on 23-24 May 2022 in Prague.
The project is co-organised in cooperation with Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA). The project is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy. The project has received funding from CERV OG, DiCE, the Central European Initiative (CEI) and European Union´s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No. 870789

Plenary Session: The Czech EU Presidency: What to Expect
The plenary session will focus on the upcoming Czech EU Presidency and the key events that will define EU policy-making in the second half of 2022.
Coffee Break
Plenary session: The Russia-Ukraine War: A Crisis of European Security?
The session will focus on the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the consequences of the conflict for European security as well as the role of the European Union therein.
Parallel Session I: Central Europe: A Region in Reshuffle
The session will explore the recent developments regarding the evolution of the cooperation in Central Europe. In particular, it will analyse the Visegrad Four in the context of the continued conflict between the European Commission and some members of the group, particularly their conflicts over topics such as migration and rule of law. It will also shed light on the recent political changes in the region and their consequences for the future of the Visegrad cooperation. *This parallel session is co-organised with EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy.
Parallel Session II: The Green Deal: Are We Fit for Carbon Neutrality?
Legislative changes aiming at achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 will be debated throughout the second half of 2022. The session will address the most important challenges ahead, while also taking into account the lessons from the recent dramatic increase in energy prices and the conflict with Russia as an important energy provider. *This parallel session is co-organised with EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy.
