Inequality

The term inequality refers to the state of not being equal, especially in status, rights and opportunities. Examples of inequality might include the unequal distribution of academic resources to socially excluded communities (educational inequality), unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals due to their gender (gender inequality), hierarchical social distinctions between racial and ethnic categories within a society (racial inequality), and unequal opportunities and rewards for different statuses or social positions within a group (social inequality).
