Countries seriously affected by natural disasters are in dire need of technologies and equipment to recover fast. Various types of customs duties, however, make delivery of technologies very costly and almost impossible.

Technology transfer is not only about equipment delivery, but it relates to a series of processes such as sharing knowledge, ideas or skills. In her latest article, Federica Cristani elaborates on how international law addresses technology transfer to disaster-affected states and what are the most problematic questions to be tackled.
